In sala si è vista la nuova versione di Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D in uscita ad halloween in Europa e, soprattutto, 8 golosissimi minuti di Sweeney Todd, l’ultima attessisima fatica di Burton, con protagonisti, manco a farlo a posta: Johnny Depp e Helena Bonham Carter.Tim Burton non ha nascosto il suo entusiasmo ieri dopo aver ricevuto il Leone d´Oro alla carriera durante un´affollata cerimonia al Festival del Cinema di Venezia.

"È il riconoscimento più importante che abbia mai avuto". Queste le parole del popolare regista, che ha stabilito anche il record come personaggio più giovane (49 anni) della storia del festival a sollevare l´ambito premio.Viene comunicato ufficialmente che Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (questo il titolo finale) arriverà sugli schermi italiani all’inizio del nuovo anno!! 

Depp ha magnificato il lavoro del regista: "Vorrei sapere cosa fare con le mani adesso. E´ un grande piacere ed onore per me fare parte di questa cerimonia per rendere onore a un grande come Tim Burton. Ed è stato un grande onore partecipare ai suoi film. Avrei ancora tante cose da dire, ma è meglio che non dica più nulla, perché ho l´impressione che non mi prenderebbe più nei suoi lungometraggi..."

Tim Burton held court Thursday at the Venice Film Festival, where he got a Golden Lion for lifetime achievement and unspooled an eight-minute sneak peek of his "Sweeney Todd" adaptation.

Paramount and DreamWorks have a lot riding on "Todd," which they will rollout Stateside in December, just as Warner Bros. will be outing the pic worldwide. As for his Lido prize -- handed to him by Depp -- Burton said it was "the best honor I´ve ever received." Asked about how the Venice Golden Lion compares to an Oscar -- a nod that has eluded Burton so far -- he joked: "It´s actually a lot better-looking than a bald naked man. It´s very special to me."

Said Depp as he handed Burton the Lion: "Tim is a rare breed in today´s cinema: he is a true original, a true artist, a true auteur. He´s my favorite director and friend. So ... let´s give him the thing, man." Concluding the gala evening was Disney´s 3-D version of "The Night Before Christmas," which the studio is planning to re-release Stateside in October.

Buonasera...Buone notizie!La notizia della censura è stata smentita, probabilmente si riferiva all´uscita inglese del film, dove la censura è molto rigida.Ora è ad un rating di 18 anni e la Warner vorrebbe abbassarlo a 15 anni per la visione consentita ai minori.
In america, la DreamWorks ha fatto sapere che l´intenzione è quello di distribuire il film con un rating R (film che necessita un accompagnatore adulto per i minori di 17 anni). Gli studi produttori non hanno visto ancora il film per intero, il montaggio finale sarà disponibile a partire dalla terza settimana di settembre. Le clip visualizzate dalla Warner forse sono le stesse che Burton ha intenzioni di presentare a Venezia per il Leone D´Oro.
Inizialmente doveva essere distribuito solo in edizione limitata in america il 21 dicembre ma sembra che invece sarà proiettato in wide-release sempre il 21 e non più l´11 gennaio 2008.Ora la decisione è di lanciarlo subito in più di 1.500 cinema quattro giorni prima di Natale: apparentemente gli studio sono molto felici degli spezzoni che hanno visto, e sono convinti che il film piacerà al grande pubblico.Infine, pare che i rumor sulle scene che avrebbero shockato la Warner (una delle quali vedeva un bambino di dieci anni che smembra un cadavere) fossero completamente falsi. A questo punto non ci resta che aspettare il trailer, che sarà online a breve...

Meanwhile, reports The Daily Mail´s Baz Bamigboye, Burton has been ordered to slash some of the gore from Sweeney Todd. It´s normal for a movie to be cut down from its rough cut length. The question is, how happy is Burton about reducing the blood? And is this article describing a hard R-rated film that Warners and/or DreamWorks wants to cut down to a softer R?
DreamWorks has always said it was an R. Anyone who knows the show knows that it involves killing and meat pies. Some sources say that the issue of cutting back the violence is "wild rumors." Neither studio has seen the whole film; it won´t screen until the third week of September. But as a measure of their enthusiasm, on the basis of all that they have seen and the strength of their marketing materials, the studios have decided to release the movie wide at Christmas instead of limited at Christmas and wide in January. That suggests they expect robust holiday business. As for the violence, the movie is what it is. That´s not going to be the issue. DreamWorks and Paramount have decided to go wide with director Tim Burton´s bigscreen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim´s Broadway musical "Sweeney Todd" on Dec. 21, versus a platform release.
Original plan was to give the film a limited bow on the 21st and then go wide on Jan. 11, the thought being that "Sweeney Todd" is less commercial and less accessible than most musicals because of its darker storyline. Along those lines, a platform opening would provide a chance to build buzz. Maybe the trailer will be on line soon...
